Key problem with Arnold Clark

Hi

I recently purchased a second hand Citroen from AC. I was given two key`s as expected.

Problem is one of the key`s does not fit. Can anyone advise if AC are required to provide me with another key free of charge or are they entitled to charge me for it? They can`t find the proper key and have checked with the previous owner who can`t help. I feel based on the fact they gave me two key`s on delivery that they should sort the problem free of charge.

Thanks

If from a reasonable dealer, although there is no specific requirement to do so, and the relatively small trade cost, they would probably get a second key made up for you. As its AC that's unlikely and they will probably end up blaming you for losing the "real" spare key.

The swines are quoting me £80 for a standard or £180 for the key which controls the central lock. Look`s like I`ll end up going with the £80 option. It`s just for piece of mind incase I loose the working key! I still think it`s not right considering the fact I was given two keys
  • Unless the paperwork stated two keys you dont have any rights. I think its reasonable for Arnold Clark to give all the keys they have for it or two if they advertised it with two.

Otherwise you should have asked. Its one of those simple things many overlook and many cars now come with a reduced function 2nd key which is easily mislaid

That`s a bit of a bummer but worth keeping in mind to make sure two working keys are provided with future cars! I shall now wait patiently for AC to inform me a new key is ready. It`s over two weeks now since it was ordered

That's why I clicked on here!!:rotfl:I was thinking, Blimey! Someone has narrowed it down to one key problem???? - this I've gotta read! :rotfl:

Hope you get it sorted, but don't hold your breathe waiting for AC to sort out any problems for you. Keep pestering them!
