JustPassingBy wrote: »It is precisely because Sky use BTW (and not any other provider) that gives rise to the situation you described. With or without the 1280 prefix the calls are routed over BT. There is no question of Sky disallowing the use of 1280 or blocking it, as is said sometimes. With WCLI Sky have no control over how the network treats its use by a customer of theirs.
Surley the relevent point is that as Sky use WCLi (supplied by BTW) any Sky Talk customer cannot make use of the fact they could use a cheaper supplier for some calls (BTR), or keep Caller Display and call Minder free by using the code 1280, which they would be able to do if they were on CPS
With regards to the OP original point, if they have Sky Talk and have BT 'free evening and weekend call plan,' then if the call plan requires you to make 2 calls a month, or 10 calls a quarter to receive the £2 to £3 discount then as the OP wont be able to make any calls apart from those that 'charged' on the Sky Talk account, then the discount may not be applied or a penalty charge applied.
The carriage of the call in most cases will involve BTW, imagine if a Sky customer calls a Talk Talk customer who both are on wholsale access (so no BT bill for either) and connected to the same exchange, then that call is carried completely within BT, my point isnt who the call is routed over but who would charge for the call and in the Op's case that will always be with Sky,0 -
I heard that Talk Talk (who also use WCLI when they haven't LLU'd an exchange) now offer a means for customers who complain to revert to standard CPS.
Whether that's true or not I don't know and I won't be finding out because my barge pole has gone missing.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

p1tse, With the Unlimited Evening and Weekend renewable contract you do not need to make any calls to get this package at the reduced costs of £12.50 (£11.25 if you pay by direct debit and have paper free billing) the only condition is that you do not cease it within the contract period. Hopes this clears things up for you.. Thanks Natasha Bt Support!“Official Company Representative

One point I would like to add - check your T&C's with BT carefully - there is a clause somewhere (around 6.3 or 10.3) that allows you to cancel without penalty if you are leaving due to them increasing prices. I used it on my agreement and it worked. They couldn't charge me a termination fee as I had left due to price increases (note that some agreemenst require you to give notice within 3 months of the price rise)No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Hi p1tse,
I can take a look if you like and find out what exactly is going on with the account. It sounds like with the special offer all you are paying is line rental any way but I'm happy to check. Send an email to forum.moderation.team@bt.com and include your account information. Alternatively you can PM the details.
Many Thanks
Donna
