Hi.
I put a new mobile up for sale, but have received the following message from a Canadian..
Hi! If I win this item, will you ship it to my friend in the UK (birthday gift
even though I am in canada and I pay for it? I would like to surprise him. Thank you
The strange thing is that he is registered at ebay.ca and has been for 6 years, with a 48 positive feedback. Perhaps it’s a hacked account?
Also, can you please advise how I go about blocking such bidders? Im sure I ticked the UK only box, but I also hear about these low feedback blocks, and blocking people without a verified address or credit card etc.
I have looked but cant see what else I can do besides the UK only option.
Thanks

My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
This sounds like a guy that tried it with me when I was selling a mobile! He too said he was in Canada but wanted me to post it to his UK friend as a surprise. I steered well clear.0

Hmmm, I'm starting to think I may be a scammer.

I've bought an item on ebay.ca and I've asked to have it shipped to a friend in Ottawa. The seller did but it seems to have gone missing in transit and I've had to instigate a Paypal dispute. That seems to tick a few scammer boxes. Ho hum! What goes around - comes around0 -
Cheers for the help people

Not sure where the thanks boxes went.
In the end I havent ticked the credit card box tho, just most of the others.
I mean, I pay mine out my bank, not via my card, so I would be ruling people such as myself out.Be nice0 -

I'm not quite sure I follow?
If you tick the I accept paypal box then you accept all and any form of paypal payment be it via a credit card or bank payment. Ticking the I accept credit cards is a different matter altogether and usually is only used by traders with a merchant account that can take a direct CC payment without going through paypal.
Setting your preferences to exclude bidders who do not have a credit card on file is a completely different thing. It means that they registered with just a bank account, it doesn't mean that they will necessarily use that bank acocunt to fund payments though. The seller preference to exclude people without a credit card will exclude a lot of people who just don't want their credit card details on ebay, so like you I have not opted to tick that in my seller preferences.

Sorry soo
I wasnt explaining myself well, in either the title or response. (At work)
I did indeed mean that I chose not to exclude people who hadnt given credit card details, as that will just exclude a lot of genuine bidders.Be nice0
