Buying a Privately Rented Home?

Hi, does anyone have any advice/information on how I could go about approaching my landlord/agent about buying the house I currently rent privately from them? Could I, for instance, get the house valued by an agent so I know how much its worth before going ay further? Or is that a bad idea?!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Take a look at this post of mine to help with valuing?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

To more fully answer your first question.
I used to be happy to talk to anyone, at any time, on any basis and felt this would result in getting the business one day at some point in the future. So do you have any 'user friendly' EA you could ask for an opinion and usually this would be an independent with working partners?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build.
