Hi we`re off in a few days and would like some hints and tips with the half-board plus option. Which restaurants are recommended and which ones to avoid. Don`t want to have to pay any more on top of what we already have and don`t really want to use a restaurant that doesn`t give good value for the vouchers. Thanks for your time.

i would recommend walts (they apparently give you a hb+ menu) when we ate there this year but didnt have the vouchsters and the food was lovely and the resturant is great as well.
i would also recommend cafe agrebaha in the disneyland park, that is a good all you can eat buffet and found good quality options, same with the buffet at rendevous de stars (ratatoui film themed french buffet) at the studios.
wouldnt recommend annettes, though it is on the hb+ list, didnt really rate them when we had a meal there.
not that keen on the fast food places (toad hall etc) there as foods greasy and expensive for what it is
if you want to do planet hollywood, rainforest cafe, king ludwicks, they are not included in any of the hb plans
tbh now with the pound/euro the plans dont seem to be as good value as they were, however we have still booked them for our next trip in january as helps from a budgeting point of veiw. (though its typical that they are now doing a special offer where you eat for free!!!!)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Anna, I also booked for January before the eat for free offer. Out of interest I 're-booked' again, and it is only £9 cheaper (same dates, same hotel- but without the HB plus vouchers we have paid for) than the price we have paid. So much for 'free eating' eh!
So don't feel too bad!0 -
when we went (4 years ago) lunch at the Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant was just fantastic - good food, and it felt like being outside in the tropics on a dark night (the cavern roof just felt like the sky).
may have all changed and I don't know about HB offers, but that was a real + point for me & the kidsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

Here are my recommendations
Planet Hollywood (although not included with vouchers)
Cape Cod -NBC Hotel
Cafe Agrabah
Walts- First time we ate there, it was good, even though we had a wait for our meal and the messed up, the food was good, and the waiter excellent. The second time we went(2007), it was awful, food was diabolical as was the service.
The Blue Lagoon- Setting is fantastic, food is ok, can be warm as opposed to hot.

on the last list in the old brochure, blue lagoon (the pirates resturant) was listed on the hb+ and HB premium lists, though some have said that it is a specific menu (which i can imagine being limited as when we looked at the menu in january it was very expensive compaired to the others in the park)
this site has lists of the resturants http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guidebook/your-visit/booking/half-board-meal-plans/ (think its on the 2nd pahe of the hb meal plans section)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
It may be expensive (it was!!) but on a busy day (300 mile drive from south of france previous night, 8am start, 8pm finish and then a 300 mile drive home, it stood out as a lovely hour - amongst a stiff competition as we all had a pretty good time!!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
