Help! Am a real novice at this, first timer, can't seem to get my head round what this "Sticky Thread" means and don't want to do the wrong thing! Have read bits on the A to Z info but still don't understand it.!
Any feedback would be gratefully recieved!

It's basically a thread that stays at the top of the board.
Whereas a "normal" thread will move down the board as newer ones are added a sticky remains at the top until it is unstuck

Hello pianoshazza
Welcome to the MSE site.
Don't worry about asking questions, there are lots of new members like you who will be interested to know the answer too.;)
As bridiej has explained, a sticky thread will be found at the top of the board whearas all the other threads gradually move down the board as new threads are posted.
You might be wondering 'Who makes it sticky?'. It is the Board Guide for that particular board or a member of the MSE Team who can make a thread sticky........and then un-stick the thread.
One excellent example of a sticky thread is on this board. It is the 'Unofficial A-Z (Look here first)' thread by Board Guide sra.
It is packed with useful information and help. The thread has a padlock symbol on it, which means that the thread is locked so you can't post a message on the thread.;)
We were all new members once so don't worry. I'm sure you'll soon settle in and enjoy the MSE site............and save some money.
Kind Regards
