Or else what? Does he not want to sell?!?!?!

Just ignore them from now on, its your solicitors job. God knows you pay them enough.

Exactly !! I know that he does want to / has to sell as his health is in decline and he needs to be closer to his family. However, I think that Mrs Vendor is very unhappy about having to move so is jumping up and down about stuff!!

I will certainly leave everything to my solicitor from now, and will always think very very carefully about giving my phone number out in any future house transactions.

(Not that I am ever going to move again after this!!!! :rotfl:)

Hi - I was going to post yesterday to wish you luck but got called away.

They are obviously stressed as any move can be difficult and if his health is an issue it will make it more stressful for them. Add in that Mrs doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as Mr and you have a recipe for a volcanic explosion of rage! All you can do is accept their intolerance and keep out of their way. You are dead right - leave it to the solicitor now. They want to sell, you want to buy, the price is agreed, everything is sorted - don't let a perfectly good deal go sour due to personalities.

If they call - don't answer. If they do get through tell them that your solicitor has instructed you not to speak to them during this sensitive time in the transaction. Your solicitor will definitely back you up on this.

    Good luck!
  • Well, just a quick update!

After a very stressfully Friday afternoon, we exchanged with 8 minutes to spare before my vendors pulled out!!

Basically they wanted completion on or before a particular date, which my buyer could not do due to work commitments, and said that they would pull out if we did not complete by then and exchange by the close of play on Friday.

So after some very very frantic phone calls between all parties involved, and interrupting my buyer at work, we finally managed with 8 minutes to spare.

I really thought it was all about to go wrong, but luckily it is ok and we complete a week on Thurs!!
  • phew! i'm so glad for you. this has been such a nightmare, so thank you for sharing it. i've learnt some interesting things about moving!

good grief what a stressful situation to end the working week on - hope you had a drink after had!

good luck for the move on Thursday and an end to communicating with Mr & Mrs Vendor.
  • I am already hoping that I don't have to speak to the vendors again from now on anyway. Going to avoid them at all costs
  • Good to hear its gone through. I've bought/sold 6 properties in last 9 years(yes tax man/estate agent/solictor love me). I fell into trap of getting on well with a vendor and exchanged phone numbers also. on exchange fell through and not through my own actions, but i got all the abuse. After that no matter how well i got on i have always kept it professional(you pay the agent and solicitors thousands) At the end when it goes through then fine...beers down the pub
