Broken foot - can I get a partial rebate on car insurance?

Hi

I broke my foot on 31st July and haven't been able to drive since. Just been back to the hospital yesterday and told another 6 weeks at least in plaster.

This will put me into October and may be longer as I may have to have surgery.

Can I claim a partial rebate on my car insurance at all as I cant use it?

Most insurers will let you suspend your cover, and give you a rebate for the period of suspension. You won't have any fire and theft cover during the suspension.

Write to your insurer, return your certificate and ask them to suspend until further notice.

When you want it reinstated, let them know, and don't drive till they have confirmed you are back under cover.
