Jewllery Thieft From Van
Not sure if this is in the right place, so please move if neccasary.
I have a white gold wedding ring, engagement and eternity rings. White gold needs re-coating occasionally. I was also given a piece of my dads wedding ring made into a pendant when he died 4 1/2 years ago. The pendant is yellow gold which I don't wear. A jewellers told me that I could have it coated so that it was white gold. Brilliant I thought I was so looking forward to wearing it! Took my wedding ring and dads pendant to a well known jewellers and they said yes they could do it for me and both items would be ready for collection on the 11th September. Got a phone call from the jewellers yesterday morning to say that both my items were on a van that got stolen! Upset is not the word! I couldn't speak so the lady said she would phone back at 3.30. she didn't phone so I phoned them at 5.15, all they know is the van was stolen and they can replace my weeding ring and give me the £200 they valued my pendant at for insurance. They did give me customer services phone number, but they didn't even know a van had been stolen. they are however going to look into it and phone me back in a couple of days.
I am so upset, my to most precious items have both gone and in my mind can never be replaced!

Rightfully you are upset, however the Jeweller appears to be doing eveything they can to amend the situation. They are replacing your wedding ring and you are getting the £200 insurance for the pendant. It's unfortunate that the van was stolen.Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique.

There's very little a store can do in these situations, other than give you the value of the item.
I would also tell them you'd like a copy of the police investigation, to make sure everything possible was done to track the van down and catch the culprits.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
oh Weeze210 this is really horrible for you - the items have a sentimental value that is priceless. I think the jewellers should be doing more than just a replacement for your wedding rings and the insurance value of the pendant - a bunch of flowers, a hand written note, anything really that shows they understand that these things were precious to you.0

Why? The jewellers didn't steal from the van? The theft has probably caused them a lot of grief and loss too! Its terrible for OP but these things happen. Had they been stolen from the OP home would you expect the insurance company to buy her flowers with a note to show how much they care?0 -
the op had entrusted her precious items to this company - it was in their care that this happened. I do not think it is unreasonable for them to show an appreciation of what she has lost - this is called 'good customer service'; it costs very little.0
-
It might cost very little for one customer to get a bunch of flowers, but they might need to send them to 500 customers and thats a lot of money!0
-
well It's up to them - either they want to appear a caring company that is concerned about the loss of their customers belongings or they don't. The fact that 'Customer Service' didn't even know about the theft makes it seem like the company weren't that bothered about the loss.0

One can only pray the thieves are caught and the items are recovered, which is pretty unlikely. the Jewellers obviously are concerned, they can replace to the value of, put NOBODY can put a price on sentimentality. I would imagine there are quite a few "other" customers who have suffered the same plight, a bunch of flowers isn't going to make things better for any of them, blaming the company for it or accusing them of being "uncaring" isn't really helping the situation. I am sure the thieves "care" less than the jewellers and yet take a slightly more portion of the blame.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
