I had trouble activating the account over a security question

None of my questions got recognised even tho the answer was fine.

Had to ring and sort on an 0845 number. I do hate having to ring because a site won't co-operate.

    They seemed helpful.

Fingers x'd it is OK now. Shame you can't add it to Egg Money manager

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

My DD for £10 left my Smle account on the 18th May and I checked my BM account today and it was there! It was vitually a same day transfer because the date on the BM account is 18th May. How do they do that?

Although it shows up as being there, they won't pay interest on it until it clears. You can see this more clearly with A+L accounts where they call it "balance" and "available balance". I much prefer it this way asyou don't get the 3 days in the ether wondering if you did actually type in the correct account number when you made the transfer.

Birmingham Midshires, what a shower. I've phoned them several times for a password and have been told it's in the post. So have given up on them on gone elsewhere.
Which reminds me, isn't customer service in the UK absolute rubbish.

Well tonight, after about 6 weeks I managed to get activated. I plumbed in 6 security questions and tried to view my account only to be met with " account unavailable at present, please phone 0845....". If I'd wanted to spend a portion of my life on the telephone I would have opened a phone account instead of an internet one. This still does not bode well, and I'm still glad I 've only sent a tenner.

At last, I can now operate my BM account. Only problem now is that I have got 2 accounts each with £10 in them ( £20 was taken from my bank ).

My first £1 transfer took about 10 days which they do state on their website. Subsequent transfers have taken 2 days with the transfer amount leaving the linked account and showing on BM account balance the same day.
Had no problems with them whatsoever, account was up and running within three days of initial online application.
  • Quite impressed so far.

Account opening was fine. Even better, withdrawals only take two working days to credit the receiving account - I am more used to four.

Yes me too, I transfered £1500 from my current account on Wednesday and it arrived in Midshires today. The thing is the money is still there in my current account. I'm sure it will work itself out though eventually. Makes a change for things to go wrong for the banks for a change.
