I work for a charity and very often we get large amounts of coins that is my job primarily to count. These amounts can be generated from street collections (= masses to count!) to the change boxes you see in the newsagents (potentially masses to the amount of 1ps we get!)
Anyway my boss has agreed that it would be better for my sanity and to save time if we got a machine to help sort/count the collections and I would appreciate some advice on what sort would be more useful and not cost the earth.
The amounts can vary week to week and from day to day so we don't need anything too industrial but we need something that can last

We could sometimes do with one too, I shall have to ask how DH is getting on with his (battery operated) which I think was in the sale at Dyas. I've looked on their website now and they have 3 in the sale, but all sold out so I might wander into my nearest branch and see if they've got any.
Don't waste your money on the jars which do a running total but don't sort it. They're a waste of space.
But while you're waiting, I sometimes count money by weight: if you've got digital scales, count and weigh the 'right' amount in a bank money bag, note the weight, then just do the others by weight. Much faster!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

If your charity banks with HSBC, some branches have coin counters which you can tip your coins into and pay into your account (commision free).
