in janurary i purchased a portable twin dvd player for the kids,, for car trips.
ebay purchase.
it went faulty,i contacted them,
i paid postage and sent it back,:mad:
i said as it was an electrical goods i have one years warranty/or guarantee.
ive heard i have actually 7 years?
i thought generally most electricals have a year.
they responded and said only six months, strange when the booklet states different.
how do i stand? and any payments?

business seller or private seller ?0

Sending it back probably wasn't the best idea. It's far too late for a Paypal dispute, so if the seller's dishonest you won't see the DVD player - or your money - ever again. Most warranties are with the manufacturer, they're who you should have contacted, not the original seller.
Also, I don't understand your question, Cally. Even if the seller's a business seller, distance selling regulations only enforce returns for 7 days but many businesses will allow a 30-day cooling-off period). January's a lot longer ago than that.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Was it fixed price or auction?
At this stage the guarantee is largely irrelevant, as you have sent it back its in their hands.
They can fix it and send it you back in working order or refund or send a replacement, you've pretty much left it up to them. Your best option would be to write to them and tell them exactly what you want and by what date (ie give 14 days to repair or refund or whatever)..0 -
I think you' re talking about using European Law to help you. The quickest answer is to look up your local Trading Standards office in the phone book and ask them.
