Flowers - Refund?

Hi
I'm writing on behalf of my friend who I keep telling to join, but he's a lazy devil!
On Friday my friend and his wife found out they were expecting a child! He arranged for some flowers to be delivered to her place of work. He paid 65.00 and arranged over the internet. He ordered in the morning for delivery in the afternoon, the web-sites said they were available and if they received your order before 3.00pm, they would deliver the same day.
Anyway the flowers were not delivered on Friday. My friend tried to make contact but as it was Friday night he couldn't get through. Apparently the florist tried to deliver on Saturday, but the business was closed, so nobody was there! Eventually they delivered the flowers on Monday afternoon and they are in shocking condition! They have wilted and some of the heads have fallen off, my friend is very disappointed. He called the florist and told them he was unhappy, they have refused to give him any money back, not even his delivery fee!
I think this is unacceptable as they weren't delivered when they should have been and they are in poor condition, possibly due to being kept in a van for the weekend?
Also it spoilt the surprise for his OH. I know its not much money to some people, but 65.00 is alot of money for some dead flowers.
Is he being unreasonable to expect something back, at the very least his delivery fee (extra as they were same day delivery!)
Thanks

if they were bought by card, I would threaten them with charge back for none recipt of goods0

your friend definately has a case if they guaranteed same day delivery. they should have delivered fresh flowers if delivery was unavailable. but - as they seem to be at fault - take it further . £65 is a lot of money for flowers. I would contact internet site in first place - if no satisfaction there - advice will be forthcoming on this site i am sure if you post again.0

Hi
He did pay by CC, I have told him to e-mail the company and see what their response is, the shop weren't willing to give him any kind of refund.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Customer Service seems to non-existant these days, especially with online companies.
Get him to keep on at them, threaten them with bad press, (eg: he has put warnings on the internet, naming and shaming them.)
A happy customer is a repeat customer after all, and word of mouth is the best form of advertising.
Sorry it just drives me mad when you pay for a service and you dont get it:mad:
Good Luck, i hope he gets something back.0 -
Name and shame the flower company!
He should write them a letter stating the facts, and that if they won't refund his £65, he will pursue them through the small claims court.
I presume he has confirmation of the order time and delivery that afternoon, along with a photo of the wilted flowers?
In future, tell him to nip to Tesco, as you could get an ENORMOUS bunch for that price!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks for the replies!
A bit of good news though, he e-mailed the flower company and they called him straight back. They were very apologetic and gave him a full refund, they are also sending another bunch of flowers tomorrow as well! Doesn't get much better than that!
A very good result!
