Continental airlines - baggage fees?

Hi everyone,

I'm off to New York on Wednesday, and one of my workmates said I might get charged baggage fees!!? I thought this was already included in the holiday price, I've NEVER paid for it seperately. Im flying direct from Glasgow to New York. Has anyone done this flight before, and were you charged?

Thanks

Irene :j

a quick look at the continental website gives me this information - https://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/check.aspx

Economy Class - International - Europe, Micronesia, Middle East and Asia

For tickets purchased prior to Aug. 27, 2009 for travel prior to Sept. 15, 2009
2 Checked Bags - no charge
Each bag at a maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height)

It seems like one of your workmates has been flying short haul with charter operators, not scheduled which is what Continental are. However, if you booked after the 27th and are flying after the 15th september, there is a $50 charge for the SECOND bag

I'm in NYC on Friday... see you there!!! *laughs*
  • If you purchsed your ticket on or after 27th August and travel on or after 15th September (so possibly your return) then the second checked bag (if you have one) is $50. $45 if you pre-pay at continental.com. Full details here: http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/checkbag.aspx It's not brilliantly well explained, but plough through it.

Edit: Damn you markymoo and your nimble fingers.
  • Thanks guys, booked my entire holiday in February this year so hopefully no unexpected charges.

Fantastic, see you there Markymoo  hope you have a fab time whilst there!!
