charger for dell 1501

Mite confused by my dell 1501. Just got a new battery as the other one had about 10secs charge in total. New one came 50% charged which is ok so plugged in and turned on. Stats page showed no increase in charge after a couple of hours. Changed to wifes charger and it charged properly. Changed back and no charge. I'd understand if the lappy did not run at all when using my charger but it runs fine but will not recharge the battery until I use oh's charger. Is mine on the fritz or is it something else?

I'm thinking your charger is not putting out enough but your OH is

Does it charge your laptop when its switched off?

  • It does not charge at all but runs the computer ok but not both.

what about your charger in her computer?

  • Her battery is fully charged but it runs the computer ok. I'll get her to run off mains for a while to lower the charge and see if anything happens. Doubt I'll be able to do this before tomorrow though. I could put the old battery in and see if it will try to charge that as well.

It does look like your Charger is not playing nice unless it likes your wifes computer. Then maybe you can swap supplies as a temporary solution
