My son wants to take more photos but shakes terribly (he's 12). He has a samsung at the moment and gets really frustrated because even with the highest 'shake' level set he still gets wobbly photos.
Which is the best camera (not too expensive) ie. canon sureshot, sony cyber shot??
help really appreciated.

A camera with image stabilization is what your looking for, but it only works so far. Other alternative is a tripod. You can get little mini desk ones for 99p in the 99p store, looks cheap but it screws onto the bottom like all tripods its just really short. might help him that way. Maybe get that tripod it might save you a bundle if he can use his old camera more effectivly
I have one its great to put on top of the TV or a table to take the all important full family photos getting everyone in
looks like this

but there is one called a Gorilla thats has bendy legs which can grip poles and such but more expensive than 99pSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
Or get a monopod. Only one leg, but fairly effective at what it does. Not enormously stable, but highly portable as a result.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Maybe it would be good for him to go to a photo club or something.
The 'shake level' you mention is probably the sensitivity setting in the camera. when it's dark, the flash only has a limited range, which is why you either need a quality lens (aperture f2.8 or less), steady hands or a tripod.
Also, don't be tempted to buy an entry level dslr since the lenses used on those are usually pretty bad...
Finally, if everyone takes perfect pictures every time, it's probably the computer and the auto focus that does it and not the person
I'm currently going back to shooting film, as it is more fun, although more expensive...0 -
I've just bought an olympus camera from Argos, £79.99 (it was reduced) via the website which has a great anti-shake setting. I used the setting while playing with it and literally threw the camera all over ( a real stern test)! and the picture came out perfect. I admit, night time piccies are harder as the shutter speed is much slower, but I am quite impressed with this camera. 12m pixels too. Only drawback is it won't take the SD cards which I already have from previous cameras, it takes the micro card which is about £20 for a 2G in argos. However, got two 2G cards for £9.98 post free off ebay.My son wants to take more photos but shakes terribly (he's 12). Also when shooting, do not zoom in unless absolutely necessary. Much better to move closer to the object (especially with camcorders).Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0
