Seeking Budget Hotel Madrid

I am going to Madrid in September and would like to find a centralish hotel/pension type accommodation for my wife and myself. Nothing fancy just a clean room and nice bed to kip in because we'll be out sightseeing all day and have no need for luxury. Any advice appreciated.

Asturias was cheap and fits teh bill when we wnt couple of years back. Close to centre but reasonable price, just a place to sleep0

You might want to ensure it's got air-conditioning - it's hot in Madrid in Mid-Summer!"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

I would recommend trying a search on https://www.venere.com - really good site and you also don't have to pay in advance, and for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W
Hope that helps0 -
Have a look here, about 80 euros/£55 per night (for the room)

We went there last October, clean, comfy, no frills. Just a 10 min (realistic) walk to the Madrid metro to take you anywhere in the city. Its a fabulous city
have great time

Thanks everyone for comments. Much appreciated. Following up now. Thanks Scotti, I didn't know T/L had a Madrid hotel. Does it have A/C?0 -
Just to update - Stayed at Travelodge - it is a new 4 star hotel and it DOES have air con. Lovely. 4/5 restaurants within 1 minute walk and Supermarket across the street. Bus outside door to Centre of Madrid (15 mins - 1 euro)
I'd recommend it to anyone0
