Due to the nature of the activities, this holiday is suitable for those aged eight and over only. If the prize winner is younger than eight years, we will endeavour to provide an alternative holiday prize. The 10-day Great Rift Valley Adventure holiday is for two adults and two children and must be taken before 30 December 2010. There is no cash alternative. The departure taken must be a ‘guaranteed departure’. The prize includes return flights with Ethiopian Airlines and everything listed on the itinerary, including transfers and activities. Accommodation: Lodge one night, camping four nights, tented lodge two nights. Meals: Seven breakfasts, six lunches and seven dinners. Optional extras, meals and activities not on the itinerary are not included. Park fees are included. The type and colour of the camera prize may differ to the one shown. The trip to Washington is for the Grand Prize Winner and a guardian for four nights, including a tour of National Geographic HQ. Flights and accommodation is included. Trip must be taken between 22 January 2009, and 22 January 2010. The NG Kids UK Photography Competition is open to residents of the UK, Eire and the Channel Islands, who are aged 14 years or younger at the time of entry, except employees of Attic Media Network, National Geographic Society, and their families, or any associated companies. The competition includes four categories: (1) People; (2) Animals; (3) Scenery; and (4) Humour (each, a ‘category’, and collectively, the ‘categories’). Submissions within each category will be judged separately. Limit one entry per person, per category. Photographs must meet the following technical specifications: colour or black-and-white prints, any size up to 25cm x 20cm. Name and address of entrant should appear on back of print. 35mm colour transparencies (submit duplicate, not original), mounted on standard 5cm x 5cm cardboard or plastic slide mounts. Name and address of entrant should appear on each mount. Original transparencies and negatives of the winning photograph must be available to NG Kids so they can be published. Photographs taken with a digital camera or conventional films are eligible. In the case of digital images, use the highest-quality setting on your camera. All photographs must be available to be published. An image that combines the elements of more than one photograph or has elements removed is not eligible. Minor burning, dodging and / or colour correction is acceptable. Glass mounts and framed photographs are not acceptable. Photographs must be taken no more than three years before the date of entry and must not have been previously published. Where appropriate, you must have model and property releases for subjects featured in your photographs. Each entrant must submit (1) full name; (2) address; (3) telephone number; (4) photo caption; (5) signature of parent / guardian consenting to entry and agreeing to official contest rules. All copyright and title to all entered photos remains with the photographer in its entirety. However, the photographer grants the competition organisers and competition sponsors non-exclusive rights to free reproduction and exhibition of entries in connection with the promotion and publicity of this competition. No responsibility will be taken for entries lost or damaged in transit. NG Kids will not enter into any correspondence. A panel of experts will judge the entries based on creativity (50%) and photograph quality (50%). One winner will be selected for each category. All winners will be notified accordingly and their names and addresses will be available on request. Where an image is used, the photographer will be credited. Entries cannot be returned. No cash alternative for any prizes will be offered. Closing date for all entries is 28 October 2009
