Depends how you define best? Mine will wolf down any tinned, or tinned mixed with dried (not keen on dried only but will certainly eat it) and couldn't care less what brand it is, at the moment she's having Netto alternating with Tesco own brand cheapest (both I think 79p per big tin). Does this make these brands 'best'? The dog is a Heinz57 rescue, is about 7 and half yrs old and has never had a day's illness in her life, so presumably cheapy brands are good for her too.

  • Years ago, dogs were fed table scraps and back then I don't think half of today's illnesses were so commonplace.

It does make me wonder what going into dog food sometimes.
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
  • i always fed mine arden grange dried and they loved it but have cant afford it now as hubby was made redundant (we have beans on toast) and they have auturky from costco the ingredients are similar ie protien etc and its a lot cheaper, around £12 for the large bags

Nope im just asking what you think the best you have fed them is, we only feed royal canin because we want our puppies and youngsters to have the best kick start in life possible :) I feed my cats Farmways own brand which works out at about 45p a tin and they love it, again not a illness yet :D I totally agree :j

  • I feed my dogs a raw diet, for me personally I feel its the best way to feed them, especially after reading the carp that the pet manufacturers put in pet food!

Did you mean crap or really carp? I thought it sometimes smells a bit fishy!

What's in dog food that dogs shouldn't eat? Perhaps I've been lucky that mine doesn't get ill but it doesn't seem to do her any harm.

No doggy person would ever recommend Royal Canin. It's just overpriced rubbish.

You'd be much better off with something like Burns, Arden Grange or James Wellbeloved.

I have bred irish wolfhounds for many years and always used royal canin's starter biscuits and i have bred the strongest and most healthiest puppies..
