help please - touchpad on compaq laptop

in Techie Stuff
was using my laptop and reading when my dinner was ready so put the book on the keyboard of my laptop
my son took the laptop 20 mins later and the touchpad wont respond - im hoping and assuming that the book pressed something to maybe lock the touchpad but i would have no idea what ??
any ideas you lovely clever lot of techies please ??

ok when i get to the log on screen the curser moves normally and under the user picture - me - it says locked
im guessing thats why the touchpad isnt moving !! anyone know how to unlock this ??

it will be function and an F key that has a hand on it

I think you have turned it off in windows hence why it works just before it boots. A reason why never to lay books on the keyboard, other is you close the lid and break the screenSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
