Chuh, so much for "mooch and enjoy time out together".
The senior R's have spent more or less all day either squabbling (actually, make that "furiously screaming at each other"), stuck in traffic (live in Premier League city and got caught coming back into city at just wrong time pre-KO, after venture out to watch DS's 1&2 play a spot of rugger. And everyone lost. Premier league club and DS's. ), or hanging out washing. Oh, or sleeping, as took self off to bed this p.m in fit of pique.
Still, bouns was, all adds up to a NSD for me. Rare as hen's teeth at the w/e. And another to come tomorrow, as only excitement booked in is watching DS's 2&3 play back-to-back football matches. Oh, and hanging out washing. And probably stuck in traffic. As matches at different grounds. Sigh.
Thanks Rupe34 and BTD. Good to know peeps out there. Could you send some positivity my way, BTD?
Final upsides - got paid for my last ebay item, still have small balance in paypal to give to the big T, relisted 3 things that didn't sell, and found camera. So listing again tomorrow.
Big glass of white, watch out, ah'ma coming your way

Hello Mrs R
hope you've cheered up and don't be so hard on yourself. I keep having what feel like minor disasters to me but only because I am now being more careful with money and accounting for every penny. It is a sign that you are changing and you should be congratulating yourself.

In which Mrs R is in reflective mode.....
Well, helloooo boys (oops, sorry, all).
BTD, you tempted me out!
Haven't been hiding head in shame after big splurge, pleased to say, oh no. Just bit tired and am a laptop down as gone off to be repaired (just in warranty - hurrah!) and whilst have shiny new one (acquired in multiple MSE stylee - via Tesco - with the extra fiver off for a code found on here - and on a Tesco card at 0% for extra points - and best of all, OH has a voucher for £250 he was given which Tesco will accept - so will use that to pay for most of it anyway. Yeah, the R's really are "sticking it to the man" these days) is still in box as too tired and busy to do anything with.
So am typing this on old non-laptop which hurts shoulder. Therefore posting less tempting this week all round. But house quiet and awaiting my Tesco food delivery (ever resented the way a retailer can get such a hold on your life? - me too, but it had a voucher for £13 off.....) so thought some M(S)E-time would perk self up.
And so, now for the reflective bit.
A quick totting up reveals notched up 17 NSDs in Sept - think that's pretty good. But felt depressed to find, on receiving pay slip, that all money accounted for in coming month. But actually, as week unfolded, came to think actually, is good, as reflects that now know where all money going, and all properly being accounted for. So is in fact, reflection of growth as mature adult-type woman, who knows what her priorities are and spends according to budget, not whim. So hurrah!
And in fact, am v v lucky as able to pay down debt, pay mortgage, other bills, school fees and all, without slipping further into debt. So no need to be depressed at all.
Was worried though, would have to adjust this month's spending plan, as have to pay balance of a short hol we've booked (at Center Parcs, since you ask, but again MSE style, going 14 December for 4 nights, which is one of cheapest weeks they do, and as have been before, know for sure they will have Xmas decs up and all festivities underway, so big bargain at £265 for the 5 of us. One benefit of independent schools is sometimes you can get away for less as they break up earlier), and DS3 has a residential trip for which another £110 is needed, and R-mobile has its MOT, and DS3 also has a BD....and is half term...and Halloween.....and so it goes on.
But luckily, OH squirrels away some money each month into various B. socs, a habit left over from his carpet-bagging days, and to my astonishment this has unearthed £500 - so we might be OK after all. Yes, there's something to be said for marrying a sensible chap. Despite the cardigans.
Anyway, time to make some MSE pledges to you all for the month:
"By the end of Mrs R does solemly declare, that she shall leave no stone unturned in quest for the frugal life, in particular she will:
pay £320 off Tesco balance
pay the minimum payments of about £99 and £42 respectively off other cards
then update signature
keep the lid on her overdraft
pay ebay profits, save for whatever she gets for the vintage Wolford tights, off her Tesco card
will reinvest the money from the Wolfords, whatever it may be, in something else to sell on at a profit on ebay, and that this small sum shall be her seed capital, also to be reinvested in another item(s) etc
shall complete 20 NSDs
be grateful for her spicy beanbake leftovers
and shall post on here at regular intervals"
Mmm hmm, that's me, catch y'all later

We've done the week before Christmas at Center Parcs - it is fabulous, with all the twinkly lights in the trees. When we did that a couple of years ago, the area was hit with freezing fog all week - didn't spoil our holiday, of course, but made it even more magical with the frost clinging to absolutely everything all the time and us swimming in a tropical poolSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
