I am sorry to read that you feel a little crushed - remember, you have been through, and are still going through, a bit of an upheaval in your world, and that takes some getting used to, all round!
It is good that Mr R is starting to look at work - that income stream and the level of capital would be hard to live on indefinitely for a family with school age children, and although the career break is a nice idea, the question has to be asked whether at 52 it is sustainable.
Glad that you are getting the health issues sorted- hypochondriac or not, if health is stressing you out, then it is worth getting it looked at.
Good luck with the marketing - I am sure it will pay off xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Oh poor you Mrs R :grouphug: - you do sound down in the dumps
Taking a wild stab in the dark about your personal problem. I felt I had a similar problem a few months ago and being a holistic kind of girl, I searched the internet and managed to sort myself out - IYSWIMHopefully there will be a non-invasive solution and you get it resolved soon.
Financially - surely things are not so bleak? You both seemed to be in such a good place...perhaps it is just one worry too many today and things will seem brighter once you get the above sorted...
As for Mr R.....well, years ago my US sister sent me Mens are From Mars and Women are from Venus. I have to say it taught me a lot about the male psyche. So to me he sounds like he's in his cave!
Sadly it is written in a "this is how men are and here's how you have to pusyfoot around them" tone, but still there are useful methods of how you can "manipulate" your man (in a nice way, of course)
Hope you feel better about things soon x0 -
My mum bought me that book a few years ago.

Hey honeybear, what nice feedback! Cleaned a house today that has three bathrooms - and a cloakroom - and as I decided to go to the drs today, rather than wait til next week, I did this really rather large house (which also has lots and lots of mirrors and glass, and a huge bed for me to strip and remake, and another to strip) in 3 hours than my normal four. So I can't really be ill, as a normal human being just could not achieve what I did there in the time. So my cleaning super powers remain intact!
Have just had a pootle in my own house, and got my head together, and am feeling better. Dr said I should have some blood tests, which sounds sensible, and she had a rummage around and said as I am luckily slim (no wonder with all that cleaning!), she could feel me perfectly and all appears in order - so we do the bloods just to see what might be going on in a mid 40s sense. So now I have put the wheels in motion, am feeling calmer.
Am just popping to get the local paper, as is jobs day. Thought if I start looking myself, it is bound to propel Mr R into action.....he is unlikely to find anything locally, more likely to London or Home Counties for him.
Don't think we wants me to get a job anymore than I want one, and we're hardly on hard times, but am keen to preserve as much of our 65k as I can - because then we could use it to be almost mortgage free, if he gets some work. But the thought did occur that maybe I could do something undemanding and part time, say two days a week, just as another income stream and fit in the HMing on the other days. And then when Mr R is successful, I could give up the job and just continue with the HMing again. Am thinking this sounds like a plan - does anyone agree?
As for our marital situation, we are both hot headed, patience-free zones, and seeing far too much of each other! So have resolved in my head to try to work on that. Have always eschewed stuff like Men are from Mars etc - but do you know what Macgirl? Am going to read it. And soon. Think Mr R, BTW, is right at the back of the cave, in the dimmest, darkest corner - and it's time he came out into the light.........

Glad you went to the Docs, if only for peace of mind
As for the book, well I read it a long time ago and lots of it has stayed with me and I'm sure has averted much marital strife, so hope it helps you in some small way x0 -
Hey Mrs R
Sorry you're feeling down - hope things work out well with the blood tests etc and it sounds like you have a nice GP which is always good.
I've read 'Men are from mars...' and am also not a self-help person but I did find it interesting. I found that most of the stuff they said in there about how women communicate were very accurate as far as I'm concerned. I think that and Feel the Fear are the only two self help books which make sense (and a lo of FtF I didn't bother with)
Having a two day part time thing might be a good idea. Always good to have various things going so that if one side slacks off the other can pick up.
I'm sure HM at Christmas could be really useful. I bet there is a real market for assistance with Xmas decs, party planning / prep, gift sourcing - that kind of thing?!
Take care :AI've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
