fgs brighthair that's appaling. :( I really feel for you, and can relate, and now they're gone not a day goes by when i don't feel thankful i'm not still going through it.

Next door died so i'm awaiting to see what pleasures they put in there next, dreading it so much.
I hope it gets sorted soon.

Oh I still get the swearing/screaming outside my window, toys everywhere so I can't drive my car in, people parking in my space so I have nowhere to park
I've been quite brutal really, I tried the nice approach. If someone parks in my spot I put a note on. If that doesn't work, I knock on the door and ask them to move and not park there again. If they insist on keep doing it, I block them in. That solved most of it however I'm away at the minute and think I will have to start again when I get back.... I wouldn't mind but there's a foot high number in the space
Re the children - asking nicely doesn't work. They don't care at all, I have seen 10-11 year olds wandering the streets at 4am as I get back from a night out. What does work, is going out and telling them to shut up or get lost

I know how you feel about intimidating groups of teenagers, we have plenty of them around here, but just remember that on their own they are generally ok. I work with difficult boys, most of whom are or have been in trouble with the law and excluded from multiple schools, and there have been hardly any of them who I actually disliked, in fact I can only think of one. The trick is to get to know them on their own, which of course is easier said than done with a group of their friends hanging around.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a house party a few houses along, and a group of male 'yoof' (late teens, early 20's) was hanging around in front of the house, talking agressively to eachother and playing music in a car. I went out to walk my ferret, and felt very intimidated by them all standing there and tried to walk past on the other side of the road, however one of them asked me what animal I had, and so I took her across to talk to them. I found it quite amusing that a group of macho, gangsta type young men would be so afraid of a tiny ferret (she fits in one hand when curled up), even after I promised them that she wouldn't bite! It just proved their humanity to me - underneath their blustery facade, they are still little boys at heart!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
