Claiming back my Charges

My court claim for £448 + 17.9% interest (what they've been charging me - thought I'd try my luck) + £80 court costs has been issued to LloydsTSB today giving them until 18/05/06 to acknowledge it. Fingers crossed!! - am still feeling v. aprehensive though but have been on Bank Forum and have found a bit of reassurance
I had an account with NatWest for years which I closed in 2001. They must have charged me quite a bit. I moved house last year and chucked out all my details  . I searched high and low and then spookily found two pieces of a ripped up cheque from my NatWest account with the sort code and account number on. I rang them and they said that they would be able to get copy statements going back 10 yrs sent to my local branch for my collection for the fee of £5. That was 3 weeks ago and the statements are still not at my branch.
I have since lost the pieces of the cheque and I can find no trace of the document I logged all the details on. I'm starting to think that I won't be able to claim from them as before I found the cheque I had already contacted them and they told me that they couldn't trace the account at all without the sort code and account number. Does anyone know what I can do?
