Very upset...need advice

I bought 4 gold chains with cz pendants from tesco direct as gifts for my 4 bridesmaids.
I got married on saturday and presented them to my bridesmaids at 2.30 by the start of the evening reception at 7pm the gems had fallen out of 2 of the pendants
As you can imagine I was mortified and highly embarrassed :embarasse
I rang Tescos direct after sales dept this morning, they said sorry would you like to send them back for a refund, to which i replied of course, they then told me the couriers system was down, so they MIGHT be picking them up on wednesday :mad:
I'm so upset by all this, I really don't know what to do next, I'm not very good with dealing with people over the phone and am afraid of an automated reply if i send an email. Can anyone suggest what I can do next?
TIA

I would e-mail them as they do respond to e-mails. I have found that often they respond to something completely different to what you have put in your e-mail but never mind.
To be honest I would just return them, get your money back and buy them something else. Its not worth making a big deal about. You could write to Tesco HQ about it and get a £5 giftcard if your that upset. Its not like it ruined the whole day.
If you live near a Tesco Extra you might be able to return it to their as they often have Tesco Direct counters but I am not sure if they accept returns.
By the way I got angry at Tesco as they didn't pick up a lamp which had a broken shade and they kept failing to pick up so they refunded the money and told me someone would pick it up. They never did pick it up and I got a cheap replacement lamp shade from the market.0
