Dyson - top notch!!!

Options
Hello all. Just thought i'd share this with you all. We have a Dyson DC07 Animal which is 7 years old, so well out of any warranty. I phoned them because a small piece of the back part that holds the hose in place had snapped resulting in it falling out every 5 minutes and killing the suction. They gave me a 'Dyson Service' for £63.62. For this I got

Proper Dyson engineer came to my home. Stripped the machine right down so it was in bits on the floor. He replaced the back duct which had the broken bit on it. He then looked over the machine and gave it a new hose, brush bar, filters, filter assemblies, clutch, and even a new motor! He then cleaned the outside of the machine, reassembled it and tested it. It works like brand new. Outstanding! I'm going to price up those parts he replaced to see how much it would cost me if I bought them myself. If your Dyson could do with a service give them a call! It's a fantastic bargain! It would have cost me over £110 to buy these parts, and that is before labour!

  • I too was very impressed when I had my old Dyson serviced at home. The engineer damn near rebuilt the thing! (same price you paid, op).

So glad I called him as I was thinking perhaps it was getting a bit past it and I should be thinking about a new one. Works just like new now.

Big pat on the back for Dyson.

This is one of the things i've heard about Dyson's (and why we got one), the initial 5 year warrantee, and the fact that the after sales service is good.

They must be one of the appliance manufacturers who still not only do the parts after more than a couple of years (and readily available), but also charge a reasonable price for an "all in" engineer call out (rather than a fee for the call out + any parts + time spent over the minimum).

Lucky you, my experience with them was different. The machine I bought failed to clean more than 1 room at a time before cutting out - handy. Dyson were one of the worst I've ever dealt with - eventually Currys lent me a hoover so I could at least clean the house!! After 5 miserable years of arguing an engineer finally came and replaced the motor. It made little difference so I dumped it and bought a Panasonic - not fantastic but a fraction of the price and it manages to clean through our (small) house in one!!

    Never again :D
  • There is a place I have used in Manchester here that are independent Dyson specialists. They recently fixed mine for £34, it needed motor brushes and a full service. They did mention that Dyson would have charged over £60.

I generally find after market dealers tend to be cheaper in most things.
