Tesco Multi-Buy Offers, etc

Hi all
Along with a huge weekly shop at a local Tesco, I purchased 2 x 6pack of Magners which were advertised as buy 2 for £16 (instead of £20).
On checking my receipt later that day, I noticed that I was charged the full £20. We went away on holiday the following day so I did not have time to return to the store.
When I did return to the store they stated that they do not keep a list of previous offers, so a refund could not be given.
I phoned head office who told me exactly the same!
As soon as the offer ends, it is removed from their database???
So, if you purchased something on a Thursday evening and was overcharged, and the offer ended that night, you could not return the following day to query it.
This is not the first time this has happened to me, but previously the member of staff took my word for it (was about 60p difference that time).
I wonder if Tesco's think I should check every item on my two foot long receipt before I make payment?
Anyone any ideas on how to get my money back!?

There's no hard and fast way to get your money back. But I can suggest you write a strongly worded letter to head office and they MAY be able to compensate you with the difference in some way. The ball will always be in their court unfortunately.0

I don't think you can expect them to sort this out after so much time had elapsed.0

I'm seriously sad but...
Anything "on offer" goes at one end of my trolley.
I put the fruit and veg on the conveyor first, as they take AGES to scan it all (giving me time to put everything on conveyor!), then I put all the offer stuff on next, so I can watch them go through, and make sure the till flags it up as an offer, or can easily see on the receipt afterwards if it's gone through correctly.
Yes, I know, really sad, but I've caught them out many times not honouring their offers...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I never thought of doing that pinkshoes. That's genius!!!0

Don't know whether I could be that organised! I wish.
But it's a good idea.
I have the same problem when ordering online - if you order a multibuy and one of the items is out of stock, they still send the other item at the original price (which I probably wouldn't have bought if it was not on offer:o). Again, maybe it's down to being organised - I suppose you can put a note on each multibuy when doing your online order??0
