What printer shall I buy ???

I currently have a Lexmark 615 which is ok - but dying. I sometimes need to use a scanner/copier so I was wondering if any of the all in one machines were any good.
I do have a separate scanner already so an ordinary printer is an option too.

I was looking to pay around £50 - £70. And was thinking that a printer with individual colour cartridges would be more cost effective to run than a 3-in-1 cartridge machine.

But I have no idea what to get. Any recommedations ????

i have a epson sx200 between £39 - £50, compatible cartridges around £10 for 12, they are all separate inks, only replace the color that needs replacing,
for £50-70 you could get one of the high spec models
  • Best to go for a black and white laser printer, had them for years. No ink costs. The toner last me years. Colour printing to go in the bin - no way ?? Photos - go to Jessops, Boots and others while you shop much cheaper, no colour printer purchase costs.
    Laser all in one's available.
  • I've had a Hewlett Packard PSC 750( printer scanner copier) for about 5 years, cartridges are around £22 each, I replace the black much more than the 3 colours but It does last a long time (3 to 4 per year) I use it all the time so do the kids with their course work.
Since I changed my computer to vista the scanner is not compatible so have used the printer and photocopier. I am looking to buy a new one soon and will definately buy the updated version of mine, and maybe get the one with fax included this time. :o
  • I agree with Gamer, I've just got a Pixma and it's very good, much better than the Epson I used to have. Ink is quite pricy though.
It all depends what you're going to use it for - if its mainly for letters and stuff then the b+w laser is a good option, if you're doing pictures or need to print off colour then go for the inkjets.
