Don't waste money buying MS Office, as stated above get Open Office for free. It does everything MS Office does, except for lining Microsofts pockets.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Note: OpenOffice.org already has the capacity to export to PDF. No third-party software required. There is a failsafe to this, and thats to print to PDF

Come to think of it, Office 2007 has the option to export to PDF as well (but you have to select it under the save menu)

Go to www.openoffice.org/ and download Open Office this should fit the bill being both free and legal.
Does this then allow you to open microsoft programs?0 -
OpenOffice can open Microsoft Office formats. But to be quite frank, I find Microsoft Office to be the better program, especially 2007. It's got a fair few features you don't have in OpenOffice which are useful for essay writing - it's much easier putting in references and bibliographies.
If you can get MS Office nice and cheap, it's very much worth it.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

openoffice is just starting to catch up with ms office 2003 in ease of use, features and appearance. the only person who would even think of comparing openoffice with office 2007 is the sort of person who has never used it.

Interesting post but you haven't actually told us why its worth buying MS office. What features does MS office have that open office doesn't that is worth spending £35 on. So what the difference. As a buyline I don't use either so I stand in the middle on this one. I use Abiword on linux and iwork on my Macs0 -
If its just word processing I'd download Abiword very quick.0
