Phonespamfilter.co.uk has YOUR phone number as a telemarketer

Hi, I have been battling this website for the last 2 months and have got know where

I was receiving a lot of unsolicited calls a few months ago and decided to Google the phone number to see if anyone else had a similar problem and they did. Then just out of curiosity I Goggled my own number; which came up on this website called phonespamfilter.co.uk as being a number that a telemarketer would use; which I thought is a bit strange, I then decided to Google my elderly mothers number and a few friends and all came back to phonespamfilter as being used by a telemarketer!

After weeks of contacting this website to have my number removed I have had 0 reply’s (surely this is agonised data protection holding my number without my knowledge or consent and not removing it when asked?) I have also contacted the websites host “DreamHost” who said they will not remove my number as it’s the websites responsibility.

I am now on my 10th email to this website to get the details of me, my family and my friends removed; what’s more is anyone I tell to Google there number will have there number on this website.

I am very concerned how this website has got all these numbers in the first place and concerned as to the layout of the website which has 50 or 60 numbers on one page (surely his can be read by an automated dialler?) Creating more telemarketers?

Please help me out here, I really don’t know what else to do?

Seems the comments on the site are from made up names

and they recycle the comments, all these from different numbers :D

They just list all possible numbers so when anyone googles they go there on a 100% match.

It's not dissimilar to the below website which claims to have your PIN code, they have mine

    i'm guessing:
    http://www.phonespamfilter.co.uk/remove.php
    Request removal from the database

From time to time, a telephone number may be added to the database inaccurately or inadvertently by PhoneSpamFilter.co.uk users. Using the form below, you may request your number be removed and added to our "whitelist" of non-solicitor numbers. Please make sure and include a detailed description of why your number should be removed.
Please note that filling out this form does not guarantee we will remove your number or comments about it. It does however mean we will investigate the situation and potentially take action if a clear mistake has been made.

    Your Name (required): Your E-Mail:
(confidential and required) Phone: +44 Explanation:
ok thousands of phone numbers are 'added'. they don't know who the numbers belong to. people send personal information to have their numbers removed.

they build a 'marketing' data base

    voila
  • Hi

I was just wondering if anyone managed to rove their phone number from the above site ? This is one of the sites that also lists my number on the Internet and am tying to get them to remove it but they never responses to my requests.

    Cheers

It is largely automated, but only for data collection. Many people enter numbers they have recieved calls from they have not been able to identify. Only when they get a few who then actually FIND out who the caller is and add this to the report does it make a lot more sense. There's little point in busting a gut getting it removed, if anyone, anywhere can simply enter it again.

I wouldn't lose any sleep - it's not even an 'official' resource!

It gets more interesting when you read the patent detail and there's plenty to explore!
