I realy hope you have a positive outcome MargaretB. Keep on chasing all involved, don't let up, follow up every email, letter, phone call and keep pushing your case. You will get there. Keep updating, if only to vent, I know I needed to!!!! Good luck.

Angie, I would like to thank you for your reply but also to tell you that, while I was following your thread even though it was all sorted by the time I found it, my heart went out to you because of your beloved old dog. When are the powers that be going to understand that a pet, especially a dog, is one of the family and should be catered for.
I have two dogs who are as dear to me as my children, and I would rather camp out with them than give them up under any circumstances. It would be like asking me to give up my son.
I am so glad you had a good outcome for your family, including your dog.0 -
I have been told by the man from the council that he needs to do a home visit. Not heard of that in anybody else's adventures. He says he has to come here, I cannot go to his office. He is also insisting that it will go against my application if I am not on the housing list, something else I have not come across. Anybody come across this? I have filled in the application form but they are asking for an estate agents' valuation of my house, which they don't do in writing for free. This is nothing to do with the mortgage to rent scheme, but for the application for the housing register, which I don't know why I need at all.0

Thank you for your lovely message MargaretB
I so agree, our pets are family members and I couldn't bear the thought of having to give him up if we had had to leave our home. It certainly added an extra stress to the whole situation. There's nothing like the love and devotion of a dog is there.I have been told by the man from the council that he needs to do a home visit. Not heard of that in anybody else's adventures. He says he has to come here, I cannot go to his office. He is also insisting that it will go against my application if I am not on the housing list, something else I have not come across. How is your MRS progressing?
I'm puzzled too as to why you need to be on the Housing Register. This didn't come into our application although, our names had already been put on the list a couple of months previously when I had gone to our local council for advice, so maybe that's why...hmm?

He keeps telling me the MRS is not guaranteed and it will go against me if I am not on the housing register. I think he is a control freak! Anyway, I filled the form in online, but they want a completion statement for a house I sold four years ago. I have no idea why they would want that, nor why they would think I would still have such a thing. And I don't see where it would be any of their business.
I spoke to the council man last week when he said he would need to do a home visit and I specifically told him I would not be here 21st November for the rest of that week as I am going away. So of course he has sent me an appointment for the 21st.
It seems he only works a few days a week so I have to wait till tomorrow to phone him and make another appointment. I shall keep everyone updated.
Oh, and the form I filled in to go on the housing register asked if I had any pets that needed housing with me. So, either that is unique to North Herts or they have finally woken up to the fact that dogs and cats count too!0 -
Hi Angipange
I have not been on this site for a while not been very well due to worry and stress of loosing my home - Still have not managed to complete the housing forms for the mortgage rescue scheme yet part of me wants to but the other part of me is scared that they will be unable to help me - The are asking for allsorts of information like 6 months bank statements and asking for us to see a mortgage advisor to see if we can get a mortgage deal etc but I know we wont be able to get a good deal as we are on a DMP - will this be free to get mortgage advice they want someone independant other than our own bank etc - - and I am also still worried re the debt I am in and will they not accept me as both my mum and i have about 28k worth of debt - I am fed up of worrying all the time going to sleep thinking of money and loosing my home and waking up doing the same its making me ill - I know I have to do something about it ie apply for the MRS scheme but I am getting in a state wondering where we will end up if the MRS scheme is not accepted especially wity my mum being elderly and disabled -
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is applying for MRS or are going through the process even though you may be experiencing problems with this - stick it out and I hope all works out well for you all0 -

You seem to have got to a stage where you are worrying over things that are not going to happen. Yes, it is free to see a financial advisor, or you can see one via the CAB. There are still companies that do mortgages for people with a debt management programme, though their interest rates are astronomical and I don't see how you are supposed to afford them.
Getting six months bank statements from your bank is not difficult, just ask. There is a small charge but nothing to cry about. Nobody is going to put your elderly, disabled mother on the street and as you are her carer the same goes for you. I know they ask for a lot of stuff you would rather not bother with, but they have to cover themselves.
If the debt you have is unsecured, it is really not relevant. You are not asking for a loan, are you? You need to get on with it otherwise you will just worry over nothing. If they are being awkward and asking the impossible, email your MP and complain. That is what we elect them for you know.0 -

Hi Win
So sorry to hear you haven't been well, it's such a stressful time
Can you approach someone independent to help you with the forms and application? I really think you have nothing to lose. Sounds like being in limbo is just adding to the stress and prolonging it. I know it's hard but I'm willing you to take the necessary steps, you can do it you know.
If it all falls through there will be other options for you, you won't be on the streets. I think you're scared of the unknown ( I know I was!) and thats whats so hard to deal with. Once you are fully informed you can make a decision over the MRS and I really think that will ease the stress a little for you.

Hi
As much as it pains me to put this up, I have anyway as it is a shocker really, no denying it - here we go... article on MRS underspend
http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/finance/mortgage-rescue-funding-remains-unspent/6524001.article
Also - The Housing Report, edition 3 - November 2012 that mentions the MRS somewhere I think and for those with an hour or two to spare on housing issues in general (interesting read though and may be useful)

Hi shazzy
Forgive me if I am missing anything.
Its just from what you have put Im not too sure what you are asking.
Have you mortgage, secured loan arrears and in danger of repossession of your home?
Maybe have a look through this Citizens Advice link on the Mortgage Rescue Scheme (MRS) for information that might be relevant -
http://mymoney.nedcab.org.uk/moneyadvice/mortgagerescuescheme.asp
You could try giving Shelter a look or call, they are free and know their stuff.
http://england.shelter.org.uk/home
If you are at risk of losing your home best to get immediate specialist advice preferably from one of the free agencies.
If you do decide to give Shelter or any other agency a call always best to have all the relevant information at hand and set out excactly what you are asking having a pen and paper at your disposal.
Best wishes0
