Difference In Prices On A Freeview Box

Im swapping back to freeview from Telewest and after looking round your usual people, Argos Currys Etc plus Asda notice they can vary from £25 up to 60 odd! Does it necessarily mean that a cheaper one will have cheaper components ?
I had originally a Digifusion type i bought from Argos for the caravan and might get another , any views >?

I've still got a Philips ON digital box. I use it for the digital radio services it provides. I just use the audio out connectors.
Why pay more if you can buy the product, try the product and take it back if you are not happy with it ? Stear clear of Argos if they have the same old returns stance regarding digital settop boxes.

I would really like a topfield TF5800 with picture in picture and twin recording facility (£250-£300 alas).

Well as far as Im aware the returns policy is, you cant return it because they dont know if its the box or because you cant recieve freeview. But if you check the freeview site you can find out if you are able to recieve it.

You need a magnifying glass to see the cross type symbol that means that the product is excluded from the 16 day money back guarantee. Statutory rights still apply. So you have to threaten them with consumer law and trading standards knowledge to get your money back.
Whatever your post code you are not going to get a signal; if your aerial is the wrong type, pointing in the wrong direction, has poor quality cable and connectors.
It may be worth paying a little extra for two scart sockets. A good site to help you consider features is here.

Many of them are actually made in the same factory. The two usual differences you might pay extra for are a second SCART socket (often usefull) and a Top-up-TV card slot (only useful if yout hink their channels are worth the subscription - I don't).

The remotes vary a bit, so pick one with a good feel.
