Each time I re-boot my pc the desktop won't load. It goes through the Windows page etc then it stops on a blank black page. I have to mess around with control alt del etc to get only Mozilla to load. Can anyone help please? My baby was playing with my keyboard so im guessing thats what caused the problem. Thanks.

Hi,
I assume you are using windows XP or Vista? Can you please confirm.
What I would be trying to do is establish if your computer has actually completed its load or are there still process's running in startup which is causing your desktop not to load up a quick as normal.
First suggestion would be to boot up again, go away from machine then come back about 10-15 minutes later to see if your desktop is still blank with no icons, showing just wall paper.
(For Win XP)
Also boot in safe mode, depending how experienced you are with MS operating system you can check your start up (Start >> Run >> type "msconfig") select the startup tab, this shows all the programs that will be executed on startup.
Hope this helps...

Im using XP. I think there are processes running from whats happening on the task manager thing. Even after 15 minutes the desktop still isnt loading. Will wait for my son to come home later to try your suggestions as im not very good with the technical side of things. Thanks very much.0

Try running Malearebytes, there is a trojan around that messes with your desktop settings, it prevents you from doing anything like changing wallpaper, screensize etc.Never Knowingly Understood.

I have no option to try that because I just get a blank desktop. I am unable to use Word, Excel etc and am also unable to access all files and folders.
I think I would have done a system restore but even thats not possible!!0 -
Don't do a system restore you will lose all your work.
Press the Windows key. Does the Start window show?? In "Run" type "explorer" (without the quotes)0 -

- Press Ctrl, Alt and delete at the same time. This will show the task manager.
- Make sure you are on the Application Tab.
- Down the bottom there are three choices, choose New Task.
- Type Explorer.exe and then OK.
