Do moorcroft buy debt

or are they part of egg. Just asking because they don't seem to know. Have offered full and final settlement offer which they rejected saying egg won't accept it. However when I said ok I'll send the offer to egg to find out if they will accept it, they got all flustered and said egg don't deal with the account. So which is it?

Blow the middle man out the water, it will also lower their effective collection ratio and diminish their usefulness in the eyes of the original creditor if everyone did this :D

Just collectors. They have contacted me regarding an Egg debt and an 02 phone bill.
A bit of a pain and the same experience you had of not accepting an offer and then getting flustered when I said I would go direct!

Nice idea - makes no difference though. DCA gets credited with all direct payments and gets commision as well - by going directly to the lender you are actually saving the dca money.

Don't know if Moorcroft buy debt from Egg but they do buy debt. Also going back to the OP's post - initially Egg will refer you back to Moorcroft even if they are only managing the debt on behalf of Egg as that's what they pay them for.

My housemate works for a DCA and says that if you pay to the original creditor then the DCA will lose the account and get no commission. However, it might be different from contract to contract, as after all DC is a very competitive business.

That's very surprising ! I have worked for 2 lenders who dealt with numerous dca's and 3 dca's who dealt with numerous lenders and that has never been the case.

You know it's possible we're both right, I'm sure that if you say that from what you've seen then it's obviously the case. As I said, it could be different from contract to contract, and there sure are *a lot* of debt collection contracts out there :-\

I'm sure my housemate is right, she's often is  but then she is a woman :) It seems then it must depend on the contractor and particular agency. I've dealt with 26 DCA's in my life so far (:() and they've not all been the same

if you dont pay the dca the dca get nothing ,if you continue to pay the creditor direct the ammount you have said you can afford then more full the creditor if the pay dca for doing nothing
