Opening a basic bank account with CCJ

I currently bank with NatWest, and i have a Current account with £800 overdraft and then a step account which i use for Direct debits. i got these before a CCJ was issued on my credit file.
I have always had good credit with NatWest, they even gave me a loan a few years ago which i always paid on time, i have a perfect credit score with NatWest - a lady in the bank told me that before.
However, now i have a CCJ, i know the bank wont even let me REDUCE my overdraft as they ahve to do a credit check - which fails. So untill i save up £800 i cannot cancel my overdraft.
I would now like to open another bank account with NatWest- jsut a basic one with a card that i can have my work expenses paid into then use that card to buy petrol and work things.
However i am wondering weather it is even worth me bothering applying for this now i have a CCJ, i mean if i cant even reduce my overdraft what chances have i got of opening up a new account - even a basic one?
can anyone give me any advise on weather to try and open an account or not?
Many thanks
Holly

You'll be fine for a basic account, they are desgned for people who due to income, or credit history found 'full' accounts out of reach. You could get a Step acount, or even a Cash account (i they still do these) which just has an ATM card.0

Ive heard that they can still reject you even for a basic account.
Just got copies of my credit report my credit score is 0! so i am worried about leaving another bad mark on my credit file if it gets rejected.
saying that as i say above my credit with NatWest has always been excellent, its some old debts from a few years ago that i am now paying the price for. having a CCJ and a Administration order which gets paid every month.0 -
I've answered my own question now, applied for an account online with them and it got REJECTED. says i have Bancrupcy on file... yet i have never been bankrupt! i have an administration order.
i wonder why it is saying this.0 -
In that case, try Barclays Basic or Co-Op if you need a seperate account.0

Have a read of this: http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf
It tells you exactly who will offer what, in regard to basic banking. Pay attention to those that will not accept b/r's or fraud cases.
An Admin Order is not good remember - read about them here: http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/debt_factsheets/administration_orders.php
