Halifax Financial Hardship Case

On the 30th July i agreed to accept a payment of £581 from the Halifax for financial hardship, 2 days after accepting this payment the Halifax kindly withdrew my Overdraft facility without notifying me and charged me interest on it as i was then became overdrawn.
Since accepting this payment the Halifax have charged me over £200 in unauthorised charges from the 7th August to the 5th september.
So they have given with one hand and taken away with the other and we are no better off is this right.
Is there anything further i can do about these charges,I have rung Halifax Customer Services who said that since i had been paid out there is nothing they are willing to do but thanks for asking.

Thanks for telling me about this one Ill keep an eye out on this and make sure if they do anything like this I am prepared. I hope it gets sorted, Have you ever thought of going to the ombudsman or potentially saying and then going to the local press! I know from working in a bank that they are very touchy if they think they will get bad press!

Did the £581 payment cover your overdraft ?
Did it mention your overdraft in the original offer letter ?On the 30th July i agreed to accept a payment of £581 from the Halifax for financial hardship, 2 days after accepting this payment the Halifax kindly withdrew my Overdraft facility without notifying me and charged me interest on it as i was then became overdrawn.

There was no mention of the overdraft facility in the offer letter it was only after i agreed the offer, when i checked my account i noticed the overdraft had been removed, I rang them and they said that it was up for renewal and they had decided to remove it as i was using it too regularly. Due to them removing the overdraft i was left overdrawn so have to pay charges. They also said i could apply for an overdraft but because my account was in arrears i would be refused, well duh !.0

I think you need to perhaps ask Halifax to explain this and ask for the addtional £200.00 charges to be refunded since the overdraft was removed from you. If they refuse then I think you have a valid reason to go to the FOS over the issue. There was no mention of the overdraft facility in the offer letter it was only after i agreed the offer, when i checked my account i noticed the overdraft had been removed, I rang them and they said that it was up for renewal and they had decided to remove it as i was using it too regularly.
