tesuhoha wrote:I always find birthdays really hard too. Its also my birthday on Monday too and ive made the decision that I am not going to tell anyone and hope that they dont remember. Otherwise theyll all be putting pressure on me to buy a nice dinner and chocs and wine and stuff and I really dont want to spend the money. I know how you feel.
Happy Birthday for Monday tesuhoha! And if you don't mind me saying...they should be buying you the wine & chocs or taking you out for dinner!

Hi vixxen,
You're doing really well not being having so little debt. :T
For me, my lightbulb moment was actually to have some kind of budget. As mentioned by Martin on this site, effectively you want to translate non-monthly expenses like car tax, birthdays etc into monthly payments.
I started in November '05, and took about three months to really get the hang of it.
Let me know if this makes sense...0 -

I agree with LookingAhead, tesuhoha make them spoil you!!!
Thanks to everyone for your replies, I'm sure I'll get there soon enough but for the time being my mum had a great idea of bringing up some paint she hasn't used when she visits this weekend. It's not the colour I ideally wanted but at least I'll have one room finished so it'll feel like I'm getting somewhere! Daughter's birthday present is now sorted so all I have to do is cross my fingers and hope nothing else comes up between now and the end of the month and that the money I make on ebay is enough to treat me to a well deserved night out!!Holiday Savings = £270.00Credit Card = -£903.41Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 400 - Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsLast Update 23rd October 20070 -

How about looking back at your ligtbulb moment & realising how far you've come since then? I've only just had mine & the thought of ALMOST being debt free (about 7 years time in my case!!) would be bliss! I know people who've done it & the feeling is second to none apparently...I know what you mean about things coming up...I've set myself a budget and trying desperately to stick to it but the "emergency fund" went when my back went & I have to spend £53 on osteopath & some kids thought it would be a real laught to walk over my car & smash my windscreen - another £50 and really does feel like a kick in the guts, especially when I am still reeling from how much I managed to amass in debt...makes mefeel physically sick but trying to hold on to the fact that I can do it but its going to take time...hang on in there girl, you're almost there!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
