Fed up of being skint

Hello
I'll start by saying that I appreciate that I'm pretty well off debt-wise compared to most on here but we all have our bad days and unfortunately today has been mine!
I've got myself back on my feet over the past few years and have gone from owing around £12k on loans and cards to what is on my signature below plus £400 that I 'borrowed' from my savings. I had a pretty decent payrise when I was promoted in 2004 but it feels like I'm scrimping and saving more now than I ever did when my debt was at it's biggest! I've cut back on the h/hold bills as much as I can, switched utility providers and have cut down my non-essential spending by following all the excellent advice I have picked up from you guys here on MSE.
Last month I was feeling pretty good about my situation but today I'm having a major AAAARRRRGGGGHHH moment. It's been one thing after another this week, car tax due, daughter's birthday next mon, best mate's birthday coming up (no present buying necessary but haven't been out for ages so really want to go out with my mates that day), car badly in need of a service and making weird noises, house badly in need of renovation but I've spent my savings so can't even get 1 room finished at the moment and boyf still dragging his heels about moving in. Boyf also really skint so can't help out but constantly tells me I should go out more. How can I if I have no money??
Is there any kind soul out there that can show me some sympathy (yes I'm feeling that bad I'm begging for it!) or at the least tell me something funny to take my mind off things. I promise I'll return the favour when you need it!!

Thanks both..elona you did make me laugh but I don't think it's that good an idea as I'd be left with him in a foul mood for the rest of the night
I'm currently scouring the house for more items to sell on ebay so I can make my night out but I'm rapidly running out of things to sell...maybe I could put boyf up for auction??Holiday Savings = £270.00Credit Card = -£903.41Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 400 - Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsLast Update 23rd October 20070 -
Vixxen, you have less than a grand left. How long do you predict the scrimping for? I dont know your income but for me that would be no more than 12 weeks... is yours longer than that? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? i know how you feel.I am fed up of telling the children, ' I can't afford it' when I know people who earn a lot less than me always seem to have a lot more.I love going to the theatre and haven't been for over 18 months as it's just too expensive. Even when I pay my bills off, there is so much wants doing on the house that we still won't have any spare money...maybe my premium bonds will come up ( all £10 of them!!!)0

Yes it can be tough even if you have no debts. You have done wll to get yours almost paid.

Hi lynzpower, thanks for your reply!
I'd ideally like to pay around £50 p/mth off my CC and then gradually reduce my OD with any spare cash I have at the end of the month. I'm aiming to have them all cleared by the end of the year but at the moment there isn't much spare to go around. I get a payrise in July which should give me an extra £60 p/mth to go towards paying it all off sooner. I think I'm just feeling it more this month as everything has come at once!
Roll on next month where hopefully things will be a little easier!!Holiday Savings = £270.00Credit Card = -£903.41Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 400 - Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsLast Update 23rd October 20070 -
So idf you have atight month, then you could pay 37.36 off your cards instead of 50 ( not much flexibility, but a little) then 50 for the following 8 months. Is there no extra ways of pulling in some cash to just push it for one last hit? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Why dont you 'invest' some time reading the matched betting thread !
you could generate an extra £50 per month very very easily !, or a lot more if you have the time0 -
I always find birthdays really hard too. Its also my birthday on Monday too and ive made the decision that I am not going to tell anyone and hope that they dont remember. Otherwise theyll all be putting pressure on me to buy a nice dinner and chocs and wine and stuff and I really dont want to spend the money. I know how you feel. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
