Poor old kevin has got a heart murmour (and has had for years). I've finally decided not to pay my vets inflated prices for the fortekor and got a prescription off them (although it cost me £5).
Any suggestions on the cheapest place to buy on the internet?

Is there any reason why she is going on the fortekor for her heart murmur? Is she showing any signs of heart failure? Cats dont tend to suffer from heart failure compared to dogs and the fact she has a murmur means nothing really so long as she is shwoing no signs of heart problems itself?0

This was diagnosed by our vet a few years ago. Apparently, they can hear it clearly and its quite bad. Maybe murmiour is the wrong description.
I must admit at the time we got the impression that poor old Kev had months to live but hes still alive years later.
Although, we stopped the tabs for a few weeks (no money to buy them!) and he did seem a lot more tired and seemed to be a little breathless. Started them again now and hes picked up a bit.0 -
I used to buy mine from www.vetuk.co.uk - they're currently £11.48 for 28 (2.5mg) or £19.88 for 28 (5mg)
Apparently there's a new generic version of Fortekor available now http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,27524.0.html It only comes in 5mg tablets so you'd have to halve them if he's on the 2.5mg dose. It works out to £8.68 for 14 x 5mg (ie 28 x 2.5mg) or £17.36 for 28 (5mg) ones. Not sure how these prices compare to your vets?0 -

Those vetuk prices look quite good.
Trouble is, and I've checked, because the prescription says 2.5mg no-one will sell you he 5mg ones, even if you plan to split them. Pity cos 1 5mg is cheaper than 2x 2.5mg.0 -
Could you not ask your vet to write 5mg in two divided doses, or something like that? My brother's cat is on Fortekor and the tablets are always halved by the vet before they give them to him in the bottle. Mind you the insurance luckily covers the cost so he hasn't had to think about this.My favourite subliminal message is;0

Yeh. I guess I'd have to get a new prescription from the vet then though. I;ll have to remember for next time.0
