So mad with the Derbyshire!!

Options
I called the Derbyshire today, as I wanted to check on making a withdrawal from my regular saver account(or so I thought it was). I opened the account in Nov 04 attracted by the interest rate which was over 5% at that time. I explained that I didnt live near a branch and would it be possible to pay in and withdraw through the post. I was told that was fine and was sent out the form which I duly filled in with a cheque for £1000. It was returned a few days later saying I had been sent the incorrect application form and could I please complete this one instead.

I have been paying in monthly ever since and have only made one withdrawal as per their t&c's. However, when I phoned to confirm I was allowed to make a further withdrawal they said I could make unlimited withdrawals with the account I had. This started to ring warning bells, and on a second phone call, they said that somehow the wrong account had been opened, despite agreeing that she could see that I had requested a regular saving account.

They have now phoned back to say basically that they cant do anything about it now but they can change it from today to a regular saver, and basically I have lost the extra interest!! They have said that they can see something happened their end, but I apparently should have known from correspondance that a postal saver is not a regular saver.

I have said I think it is diabolical customer service and she gave me an address to write to, to complain.

Where do I stand on this?

Thanks

Sue

Have you got a photocopy of the application form you signed to prove that you applied for the Regular Saver?

When the application was accepted you would have received a letter confirming which account was opened. The passbook shows the type of product in the box underneath the account number.

When you received the tax certificate 2004/05, did you not check the amount of interest against what you should have received?

Unless you can prove that you applied for the Regular Saver, I don't think you have a leg to stand on.
