What do I do about switching
Options
Hi,
Currently im with Scottish Gas for my Gas and Electricity. At the moment, I pay £75 per month for my gas & £7.10 for my electricity. My electricity is very cheap at the moment, because I was paying around £35 per month last year, which was way too much, so they have reduced my payments accordingly.
Anyway, I want to make sure im still getting the best deal, but, dont know how to go about checking this out. Do I phone Scottish Gas and ask how much gas and electricity I used in the last 12 months, and then give this information to other providers to find out what their prices would be?
Im wanting to get this done as soon as possible because last year I found that we were very cold during the winter months, even with the heating on, and if I put it on even more then that is going to put my gas bill up and I cant afford to pay any more. We live in a very large house, its a new build so has all the insulation (I think), but we are always freezing, even when we have the thermostat up at 22 degrees!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much
Jackie

Yes, ring up your current supplier for the amount of kWh you have used for gas and electricity over the last 12 months. Then enter the supplied information in a site such as energyhelpline, which is the one recommend my MSE.0

Hi Jackie. Get your usage figures from your current supplier then post 'em up here, along with your region. The switching sites are OK but not for the faint-hearted as there are lots of T&Cs to watch out for with the various tariffs (and some T&Cs that they conveniently forget to mention). You will probably be better letting us point you in the right direction as opposed to a switching site. HTH.Call me Carmine....

When the OP has found what she considers the best deal, then they should then take the time and effort to read the terms and conditions themselves, satisfying themselves that they are happy. Rather than trust anonymous folk on the internet to give them impartial advice as to which tariff/supplier to choose.
You don't know their level of competence or impartiality.0
