I wanna Manchester Terrier, a Miniature Pinscher or an English Toy Terrier

Hi.
I've probably plonked this on the wrong board but I 'wanna buy it' so it seemed like the logical place (please feel free to shift me if it isn't BG's!)
My OH has always wanted a Doberman (well 2 actually!) but until we are well and truly retired and own an acre of land (one day!) he'd be more than happy with either an English Toy Terrier (black and tan) a Miniature Pinscher (black and tan) or preferably a Manchester Terrier (like a mini Doberman!)
Now, I've been looking for a local breeder for over a year now as I know securing a puppy can take a long time but I have drawn a blank in every direction!
I have been offered every single other breed under the sun (including a ridiculous amount of Malamutes and Shih Tzu's?!!) but have had not even a sniff of a puppy (or an adult as a matter of fact!) of either breed.
My OH's birthday is coming up and I'd love to give him this much wanted puppy for his birthday, or at least have one secured for him.
Does anyone know of any breeders or even rescue centres that may be able to help? I'm willing to travel if necessary
Does someone you know own either of these breeds, maybe a kind hearted MSE'r could ask said friend where they had theirs from?
I do feel like i'm clutching at straws now, i've spent soooo many hours on the net and made so many phone calls during my mission to be met by blank looks and shaken heads at every turn! Are these breeds really rare or am I missing something obvious?
I don't need a show winner or even papers, just a puppy to love and cherish.
I just hope someone on here can help!
Any help anyone can give would be gratefully accepted (and a huge thanks given, if the button ever re-appears!)
Hopefully
Lisa

Have you tried the dog magazines , or Loot ?? Got to admit though, have never heard of either breed of dog (but then again I'm a collie person, so wouldnt be looking!) Border terriers seem to be the latest 'it' dog locally, they are hectic, but dead cute and clever.0

Could try the following link, there are breed clubs (under Dog Clubs) listed for both breeds, would of thought they would be able to help you out with information on breeders in your area. Couple of breeders also have listings on this site - though appear not to be to close to you.
http://www.ourdogs.co.uk/
Our terriers breed association couldn't of been more helpful when we got our dogs, so hopefully the relevant breed association should be a good place to start.
Edited to add the following link, also has some usefull links for the breeds

Many thanks for your replies (where is that darn thanks button?!), i've tried both suggestions already unfortunately though, I really am at a dead end.
Any more help would be wonderful.
Thanks.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Please only get a pup from a reputable breeder and not through the small ads.
You really will need to go through the breed club and be prepared to go on a wait list and be prepared to travel. Its the only way of ensuring you get a well bred dog.
I have found these details for you
English Toy Terrier (Black and Tan) Club Rescue
Miss Penny Rose, Crediton, Devon. Tel: 01647 231255
If you give her a ring she will be able to point you in the right direction.
As I said, be prepared to have a wait, took me months of searching for my cocker spaniel and I only secured him when someone else pulled out0 -
I've been on the breed club waiting list for 9 months now.
And the kennel club put me in touch with them in the first place. Told you this was my last resort
Thanks for all your replies anyway, doesn't look like i'm going to get anywhere before his birthday.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Just a suggestion, but why not try you local animal rescue centres? If you're not bothered about papers etc as you say, then you never know you may find the breed you are after there. Seems a shame to get one from a breeder when there are so many dogs/cats/other animals desperate for a home already.0

Im sorry to dispute this but the KC do not actually police breeders and anyone can register with them as a breeder - even commercial breedersThe only way to find a reputable breeder is through word of mouth via the breed club

I've just made another phone call to be told I'd missed out on a male puppy by 4 days.
