Couple of questions about monitors....

I am looking to replace my four year old 17 inch monitor with a new one. But I would like to know the following:
1. I suffer from eyestrain and would like to pick a monitor which places the least stress on my eyes when viewing. Is a bigger screen better for this or a smaller screen? Does a bigger screen make my eyes more used to not having to 'work' and hence make them lazier? I am looking into buying a 23 inch widescreen and would be seated an arms length away.
2. In terms of display quality, what is the difference between a TFT without a TV tuner and one with a TV tuner? Is it just that I can use one with TV tuner as a stand-alone TV without needed computer to be siwtched on?
Also can I just buy one without a TV tuner and install a computer TV tuner (presumably might cost more overall and also need computer to be switched on for it to work?)?
Also - in what way is it an advantage to have a monitor with 1920 x 1080 HD resolution??
I am thinking of buying one of the following - any help welcome:

Thanks!

A tv tuner built in is basically a TV you have your usual aerial socket in the back. It works like a normal TV with a remote. The difference is usally its classed as a monitor and with samsung get 3 years warrenty not the 1 yr for TVsSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Bigger would be better I think, easier to see things. Actually I can't think of any reason other than space it takes up not to get the biggest you can.londonman81 wrote: »I suffer from eyestrain and would like to pick a monitor which places the least stress on my eyes when viewing.
Also have you considered if you want a gloss or matte screen? glossy makes the colours look brighter (in my opinion), but it's very reflective, so you might find matte easier to look at. Maybe go look at some in a shop to see which type you prefer?
No idea re: TV tuner!
I prefer 1920x1200, it's 'squarer', I find the shape of the screen more pleasant.londonman81 wrote: »Also - in what way is it an advantage to have a monitor with 1920 x 1080 HD resolution??
Higher resolution means you can fit more things on the screen, and if you play games on it they will look nicer (smoother lines etc).0
