Do you need planning permission to put a static caravan on a small holding and use it as a residence?? With all services connected??

Yes, apparently:-

If I wanted a residence I'd get permission for a swimming pool, dig it out, then change my mind and cover it over - oops, I mean "fill it in". I'm sure you get the picture. Make sure the entrance is hidden and nobody can see you going in and out.0 -

There is a occupied bungalow already on site and the plot was a farm but now residential. Does that make any differance ?
Only have 2 bedrooms and the kids cant share a bedroom for ever..... looking at options.I save so I can spend.0 -
yes, my parents had to have permission to have one on site whilst they were doing their housePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I had to get temporary PP to put static van on site whilst I was building my house.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
afaik you will require PP for that.
best bet is to make sure the neighbours are ok first. then start with say calling it an office/playroom and work up.

However, if you put the caravan on the residential land (I'm assuming you live in the bungalow) and not on agricultural land, and it is occupied purely as a bedroom, and not as a fully self contained unit of accommodation (bathroom, kitchen etc) then it may not constitute a change of use of the land, as the lawful use of the land would remain as one dwelling (bungalow plus caravan). If you don't live in the bungalow though, there's no way round it - it needs planning permission.
Also, you said earlier that it was a smallholding, i.e agricultural, now you say it's residential - so I'm not really sure what the use of the land is!0 -

Bit of misunderstanding re my use of the term residential....
My understanding is that the whole 5 acre plot is agricultural inc the residence (bungalow)..... This was left to me by my Gran. As said there is a bungalow on the site. Planning permission was granted back in 1974 ish for this along the lines of the post earlier..... i.e. The working un manned small holding required someone on site 24/7 etc.
All the farm land apart from the 5 acre grazing field and a few sheds and a barn where sold of when left to a charity by a previous owner. Since then it has not been a working farm in any way, purely "residential" if thats the correct term... ie not a working farm, etc just a residence for my Grand parents and now temporarily for security, my brother.
As far as the council is concerned i believe however it is still "agricultural" on the planning books.
Long term ideally i would like to develop the bungalow for my own residence, currently however it is too small to move my family into.
I have now found out it is also in a green belt area.... just to further complicate matters!
Dont want to sell the place... too many memories and besides its a wonderful spot, but if we cant live there.....
Nice problem to have i suppose....I save so I can spend.0 -
