Webcam Black on Yahoo Messenger - Confusing Problem!

Hey guys.

So I bought one of these new super duper high res webcams.. Pretty good quality! Skype, fine. MSN, fine. Virtual Dub, fine. Yahoo Messenger? Black screen!

Now using magic-I to create a virtual driver and relay it through, that did work though gave me 3fps so pretty unusuable really.

I set up the Yahoo Video Chat - That detects my webcam and works absolutely fine!!!

So for some reason even though it will work in video chat, it wont work in the normal webcam window.. I just see a black screen!

Does anyone have any pigging idea what's going on before I throw this thing out the window ;)

do you have yahoo running already, most webcams wont run in more than 1 application at a time, so if you have yahoo running the webcam has been allocated to that, you will need to close and exit yahoo. alternativly if you use it in the windows my computer area, then open yahoo it wont work in yahoo.

Do you have the correct camera source selected. Here's how you can change your camera source:

    Click "Messenger"
    Click "My Webcam."
    Click "Messenger" again.
    Select "Preferences."
    Click "Webcam."
    Click "Camera Source."
Click the pull-down menu and select the camera you want to use.
    Click "OK."

  • No luck I'm afraid.

The right camera source is selected for sure. I've been googling for hours but really the answers I get are the same. either its not compatible, its already in use, or the wrong source is selected.

Well according to Trust, it is compatible. It isn't already in use and I have selected the right source..
