Firefox hassle

Hi...is anyone having trouble getting onto firefox . The last few days I keep getting server not found - but when I hit "retry" it connects.
It may be my ISP;) or could it be anything to do with bl**dy BT who f****d up all our home phone lines last week when they sent a trainee to do a job:rotfl: and we all got calls that had been dialled for a neighbour:eek: it took them hours to fix but that's when the trouble started.:p

  • I doubt it'll be Firefox. Use IE for a week and see if the same problems reoccur. I'd suggest running CCleaner and checking for updates to Firefox. Other than that try another browser / ring your ISP.

Why dont you try IE and then you will know if its FF

FF works fine for me so if IE works fine then reinstall FF

none work fine for me but have to put up with it, noone know what my problem is, other people have the same issue (not the same as yours) Not even Microsoft seems to know or care that it could be a windows issue.

I didn't explain that too well :o the problem is mostly that when I get onto firefox and put in a search..I get the" firefox couldn't find the server" message. Then I do the retry and it connects---but it's a recent problem.
  • Are you searching from the address bar or the search box on the right?
  • There are a lot of people experiencing this problem.

One solution that might work for you is disabling the ipv6 webpage support.

In your address bar type: about:config

    the search for ipv6

double click on: network.dns.disableipv6 so that it is true, restart your browser and see if this makes a difference. if it doesnt then change it back to false.

you can also try to disable your any addons that you have installed as one of these may be causing the problem. I have read that some of the proxy addons can have this affect.

Both your DNS servers might have been down, next time it happens try restarting your router.

Firefox isn't all that bigged up to be anyway with it's memory leaks and slow performance. Opera is a much better browser and the only reason people stick with Firefox is because of it's extension architecture.

And you manage your gmail via a Firefox add-on? Mozilla Thunderbird would probably be better for you security wise.
