Hi All,
The past couple of days I've noticed my PC is more sluggish than normal. It used to run perfectly fine...not leaving enough time to tap fingers impatiently on the desk etc LOL
Now...it's just taking forever to do stuff.
I've run disk cleanup, defrag and a thorough scan of the system using all scans available to me.
I'm thinking maybe I need a bit more RAM...but can you give me some suggestions? Am running Vista and attempted to see what programs are running at startup but got confuddled!
Tech specs as follows:
Windows Experience rating: 2.9
Processor - Intel Celeron CPU 430 @ 1.80GHz 1.80GHz
RAM - 1GB
Thanks!

looks like your ram would be a good place to upgrade to 2 or 3 GB, no point in adding more. i think thats the best you can do really with what you have. You have already run the defrag etc.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

1. Uninstall all unnecessary programs from Control Panel then restart your computer.
2. Run Windows Update: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ then restart your computer.
3. Run CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com
4. Run an anti-virus scan: http://www.free-av.com/
5. Run an anti-spyware scan: http://www.superantispyware.com/
6, Run an anti-malware scan: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
7. Run a defrag: http://www.defraggler.com/
8. Investigate msconfig: http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
9. Perform disk error checking: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
Other than the above I'd recommend either installing more RAM and /or re-installing Vista.0 -

laptop or desktop?
Memory brand Crutial or Kingston are the bestSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
It's an Acer desktop pc. Only had it a year and a bit.
So if I do a search for Crutial or Kingston? Is it easy to install?;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
1GB is completely inadequate to run Vista. Buy a 2GB RAM chip from Crucial and you'll be laughing with 3GB, use this link for 5% off, then System Scanner.
