Washing machine broken - 15 months old

Hi,
Can anyone advise me on what action i can take about my faulty washing machine please?
The one year guarantee from Comet expired in June. The machine has already been fixed once for another problem at about 7 months old. It took ages then and I was without a machine for nearly a month .
I understand that I have rights under the Sale of goods Act, but can anyone please clarify what these are exactly - so I know what I am talking about to Comet? I have googled but not come up with what I need?
Thank you so much for reading.................

You have the right to claim for repair/replacement (Comet's decision) up to 6 years from purchase. Outside the manufacturer's warranty, things get more difficult. Your best bet is to get in contact with Comet's main customer service centre and see what they suggest (don't forget to mention the Sale of Goods Act!).
They might want you to give them an engineer's report confirming the fault.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Hi,
well I phoned them and they are sending an engineer out. I had to pay £30 which will be reimbursed and the machine repaired free if it has 'a major fault'. I am still a little confused about what constitutes a major fault, even though I asked on the phone? I suppose I'll have to see what the engineer says.....maybe it would have been wiser to get an independent report though.............
Thanks for your reply.0 -
I don't really understand Comet's terminology of a "major fault" (I seem to remember another thread where they used this).
If you cannot use it as it is supposed to be used, that's a fault and should be repaired.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Hi again,
I absolutely agree.............we'll see what the engineer thinks tomorrow. Meanwhile the washing is piling up :rolleyes:0
