I've not tried them yet, but a friend recommended the Curtain Exchange to me.

Ooh, the curtain exchange! I loved that place back in London. We don't have one very near any more but I loved that place. There were curtains of such quality in there that people didn't want any more; I did my whole flat in curtains from there. I've got some children's designers guild ones that I could have taken there if we had one still.

  • the cheapest are in Ikea, I think.

    sometimes Lidl sell courtains.

I bought very cheap ones, good quality in Price drop.tv
have to call to buy when mo many watchers buying.
  • I 2nd or 3rd the Ikea idea. They do some great plain & really long curtains with pencil pleats. A friend got some from TK Max recently.
The curtain exchange is like an aladdins cave, full of amazing things & they're often really long too.

Your local market or Sunday market I got some full length curtains for my living room for £10 and I'm sure they're more like £40 in the Argos catalogue. (East London area)

Have you got a chiltern Mills near you? I've just been in ours and there were some really cheap curtains. some were quite nice in neutrally colours and normal tops as opposed to tab-tops

I had a wander down to Ponden Mills today but they had very little....We did potentially buy some from Ebay last night but waiting to hear from seller comfirming that there isn't two postage charges....but hopefully there won't be and we can go ahead and buy them! :j

We have the lounge to now sort out as we don't think cream curtains with a red flower will look right with white walls. We're a bit frightened that they'll merge into the background...:rotfl:

Thanks for all your replies much appreciated...

i have always got mega cheap curtains from ikea but also places like linens direct, not sure if thye have them in your place. i have bought in sort of pound(ish) shops white tab top panels and over laid them with each other on the pole, so you get a double layer, each panel was something like a tenner and the effect was nice.

i was also looking in a book ive bought about 'white', and it had a picture of a piece of white nearly sheer fabric, sort of like a thicker voile, and at the top instead of tab tops, someone had poked black velvet ribben through holes that they made, to make the ties to tie it to the pole. it looked really good. if you're looking for all white you could use white ribbon
