Problem with Guitar Hero-shop wont help

I brought guitar hero world tour (the full package, guitar, drums etc) for nearly £150 5 months ago. The guitar recently started using up batteries at an incredible rate and then yesterday it wouldnt turn on at all, (does light up on, on button) but nothing works.
Contacted the Game store from which i brought it and they said that they only guarentee games for 28 days and activision (company who manafactuers it) only guarentee games for 90 days. I can understand them having a limited warrenty on the game disc itself, but this is the controller at fault.
Is this right? Or is there something i can do? As i was always under the impression that anything you bought was meant to be fit for the purpose intended for a reasonable amount of time (and i dont consider 5 months considering the price reasonable!!)
I also know that no damage has occured to the guitar, and its kept in its box.

You're perfectly correct that it's nothing to do with Game's policy. The Sale of Goods Act says that something must be of satisfactory quality and therefore last a reasonable amount of time, depending on the item itself.
However, there is European legislation which provides additional protection if products break down within six months.

Useful though that link is, if the OP wishes to simply get a replacement or refund from Game, that is her right. It would be quicker, if nothing else.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

Bo110cks. Just followed the link and they will replace the guitar for you, simply and probably a lot less hassle than going and standing like a prat in some geeky computer shop!0 -

Thank you everyone. I went back to Game store, after i was sure of my rights and after abit of a discussion (!) they have replaced the guitar.
